Is it possible to use WiFi to search for wireless cameras running at 2.4GHz and any software 2 view them?

I recently bought a small wireless camera and receiver but the receiver was damaged, I was thinking that since my laptop has WiFi that perhaps it might be able to work on the 2.4GHz band and work like a receiver. I guess that would require a program to display the signal data, much like a tv emulator. Has anyone seen a program that might enable this? I've had a look around but I can't seem to find much at all! Thanks in advance!

P.S. If 2.4GHz isn't possible, out of curiosity, does anyone know if any other camera frequencies might be possible?
